AS THE STORY GOES: THE FOX EATS THE CHICKEN

Bentancur gave Tottenham hope, but just like his knee, it doesn't last the full 90 minutes. Leicester takes the crown at The King Power with a 3-goal lead.

Rodrigo Bentancur combats his earlier yellow card by opening the scoring. Supplied with a mishit from Kristiansen- who attempted to clear Perišić's evasive corner- the midfielder guides the ball into the net. Tottenham's number 30 is rewarded with the newly composed 'He's the reason we'll be playing on Wednesday next season' from surprised Tottenham fans- since when are Spurs able to score from corners?

The watchful eyes of VAR deem Bentancur's goal as a possible offside, but after a few minutes of scrutinous checking, Tottenham still lead the game 1-0.

What happens next, however, no one expects. Nampalys Mendy blasts the ball into the net from outside the box, bringing the Foxes level. Maddison's corner, originally cleared by Bentancur, finds the feet of Leicester's number 24 who runs it home. His first-ever goal for Leicester, and what a thunderbolt it is! Leicester fans roar in astonishment both for the player and his equalising goal.

James Maddison decides that the Lilywhites still aren't taking Leicester's efforts seriously, so slides the ball into the net to gain a 2-1 lead. After an exceedingly lucky tackle on Kane by Mendy, which lands just right for Iheanacho, the Nigerian striker brings Fraser Forster off his line, leaving a clean finish for Leicester's number 10. The Blues continue their plight, now fuelled by the confidence gained from a speedy comeback. Antonio Conte looks on from the sidelines, his face an entanglement of confusion, annoyance, disappointment and pain- what happened to the Spurs who so fiercely conquered Manchester City last week?

Miscommunication between full-back Castagne and goalkeeper Ward almost ends in an own-goal and a chance for a dreary Tottenham Hotspur to get back into the game. Fortunately for the Belgian, the ball goes just wide of the post. For good measure, Iheanacho beats Eric Dier in a 1-on-1 and curls the ball into the net from 18 yards. A show-stopping end to the 1st half for Leicester, and as for Tottenham? Well, I imagine a stern talking-to awaits them in the dressing room.

Leicester kick start the 2nd half on the front foot, Tottenham still very much lacking. So much so that goalscorer, Bentancur, is injured in a collision with Dewsbury-Hall, and is subbed off for Pape Matar Sarr. Højbjerg goes down shortly after- a worrying sight for Tottenham as their midfield options seem to be decreasing before their eyes. However, the Dane soon recovers and it seems it was a delay tactic to ensure the wellbeing of fellow teammate, Bentancur, who is followed off the pitch by medics with stretchers.

The Foxes, unfazed by this, score a 4th. Harvey Barnes is soon denied by VAR, after being found a fingernail's length offside. In reaction, Tottenham make 3 substitutions, bringing on Richarlison, Emerson Royal, and Davinson Sanchez. A further sub of Kulusevski for Danjuma means Tottenham are pushing 4 attacking players forward. This amounts to nothing, though, as Harvey Barnes avenges his disallowed goal in the 81st minute, halting movement to earn space before picking out the bottom corner of the net.

Shrouded in embarrassment, there is nothing Tottenham can do but play the game out, spirits deflated. The once-loud chants from Tottenham's repertoire are now reduced to silence as the Spurs going marching on...back to 5th place.

Kiera's Kicks

My thoughts and some facts about today's game

Player Appreciation: Well, this is a difficult one. No one really stood out or played exceptionally well today. Kulusevski probably had his worst game ever. If I had to pick out one player, it'd probably be Bentancur. He scored our only goal and tried his best, even if that meant receiving a very painful injury. I really don't understand how we can go from one extreme to another in the span of a week, I guess that's just how Tottenham Hotspur is.

Quick Stats: Excluding Southampton, Leicester have the worst home record in the league. Tottenham have lost 7 of their last 13 games, making our loss a total of 8 games. So, of course, we had to lose to allow Leicester to break their bad home streak. How generous of you, Tottenham.

Spursy Spurs: As well as allowing Leicester to break their home curse, if we had won today we could've gone 4th, and pulled away from Brighton and Fulham. Especially as the teams around us either drew or lost today. Typical Tottenham, always taking the hard route instead of the easy one.
