Tottenham lose 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers- steering them away from relegation- and opening the door for Liverpool to take their place in the top 4. Dr. Tottenham will see you now!
After a devastating last-minute loss to Championship side, Sheffield United, in the FA Cup during the week, Tottenham decide to continue this trend versus 15th-place Wolves. The game starts out hopeful, with the Lilywhites pressing and keeping goalkeeper, José Sá, on his toes. The Portuguese international continues to irritate Tottenham as Son passes to Kulusevski, who attempts to curl the ball in but it is pushed wide. Gameplay pauses as medics attend to Diego Costa, who is eventually carted off on a stretcher.

Another chance comes for Tottenham in the shape of a Son free-kick. The ball finds Perišić's head, as the Croatian attempts a diving header, only to fall straight into the guarding hands of Sá. The ball goes out for a corner but to no avail.

Into 8 minutes of added-on time, and in true Spurs style, a chance finally comes 5 minutes in. Pedro Porro takes a striking free-kick from the edge of the D, only to hit the crossbar. There was no way Super Sá was getting to that one! Surprising for Spurs fans, though, as free-kicks never usually make it past the wall- Porro could well be the new free-kick taker ahead of Kane. The game is 0-0 as the players return back into the tunnel.
Wolves open the 2nd half with a double substitution- Collins for Neto and Traoré for Lemina. Tottenham remain unchanged, and it's unclear whether hogging possession can make up for a lack of attacking penetration as The Wanderers stay determined and persistent. Kane lays a lovely pass to Son, who steams ahead into the box, only to drive the ball into the crossbar.

Wolves respond almost immediately, Jiménez squaring the ball to Semedo, but it's too close for the right-back and the ball rolls away. From then on, Tottenham seem lost- their strategy has been figured out, and it appears they have no Plan B. Cameras and eyes flick towards Stellini, who simply upholds a stone-faced stare. Wolverhampton play this to their advantage, especially now with the extra attacking threat of Adama Traoré on the pitch. The Spanish forward places a brilliant cross towards Jiménez, who heads it towards the net, but is quickly stopped by Forster. Tottenham's panic is becoming more and more obvious, particularly as Kulusevski receives a booking for a lacklustre foul on Jonny.

The pitch becomes ever more gold as Wolves continue their plight. They make 2 further subs: Moutinho for Nunes and Cunha for Sarabia. There is still no movement from the Tottenham bench. Neves spots Forster off his line and makes a beeline for the goal, only for the English goalkeeper to scramble across and punch the ball away. After a close shave from Cunha, who kicks the ball wide, Spurs finally make some substitutions. Lucas Moura comes on for Kulusevski and Emerson Royal for Pedro Porro. The pair barely have a second to breathe before Traoré finds the back of the net off the bar. This places Wolves a goal ahead, and Tottenham in a very similar situation to a few days prior.

A very serious-looking Richarlison is brought on for Ben Davies, in the hopes he can somehow salvage something for the Lilywhites. However, the Tottenham goal is the only one under attack, Jiménez comfortably tucking the ball into the net. The doubled lead only lasts mere moments, though, as VAR rules the Mexican offside. In the end, Wolves leave the game with all 3 points and Tottenham looking over their shoulders as Liverpool come for 4th place.

My thoughts and some facts about today's game
Shoot Your Shot: Tottenham had 21 shots at goal this game, the most in a Premier League game without scoring since losing to Manchester United in 2019. Any other team would've scored from at least one of them shots...but this is Spurs we're talking about.
Sad Stats: Spurs have now lost 3 out of their last 4 away games. This is the first time they've lost consecutively since September 2021.
Thriving Underdogs: Tottenham seem to win games that should be 'hard', such as Chelsea and Manchester City, and lose 'easy' games such as Wolves and Sheffield United. We seem to do well when we're the underdogs, and considering we're 1-0 down to Milan already and hence have to beat them by 2 goals, it gives me hope that Spurs will somehow rise to the occasion. Don't quote me on it, though.
